3.1.3. NONVERBALCOMMUNICATIONIN DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

Non-verbal communication plays an important role in our daily lives, a sit can enhance a
person‟s ability to establish meaningful relationships in everyday life. When you understand non-verbal

communication thoroughly, it will help people develop stronger relationships with each other.

Non-verbal communication is related to body language. Non-verbal communication has
different forms. They are interpreted in multiple ways by different people, especially across cultures.
Even absence of such non-verbal cues can also convey some meaning in the form of silence.

Nonverbal communication can be understood best in relation to the settings in which it occurs.

Nonverbal communication includes the use of visual cues such as body language

(kinesics), distance (proxemics) and physical environments/appearance, of voice
               (paralanguage) and of touch (haptics).

It can also include the use of time (chronemics) and eye contact and the actions of
looking while talking and listening, frequency of glances, patterns of fixation and blink rate. In

everyday life, nonverbal communication is multifunctional in nature. It is closely linked to how we
feel about our relationships with others and how we manage those relationships. In
interpersonal interaction, nonverbal messages can be found not just in facial expressions, eyes,

body language and touching but also in clothing, tone of voice, posture and even spatial
               distance.

Nonverbal behavior is implicated informal or informal messages of intimacy or
domination. Whether intentional or unintentional, deceitful or sincere, no matter what we do, we
reveal what we think or feel. In short, nonverbal communication is an important part of human

interaction and is always present in face-to-face interactions. In face-to-face interactions, people
not just perceive your words, but try to understand the nonverbal cues that go hand in hand with

the verbal communication. For example, if you say, “Nice to see you!” to someone and roll your
eyes at the same time, they will doubt your sincerity.
